OConnors PROSTAR OCONNORS
INTERNATIONAL® ProStar® delivers for O’Connors CASE IH

The days of CASE IH agricultural equipment being transported on the back of an INTERNATIONAL® truck are back!

One of Australia’s leading CASE IH Dealerships has just added an INTERNATIONAL® ProStar® 6x4 sleeper cab prime mover to its fleet, using the vehicle to tow a three axle, drop deck trailer, hauling equipment between Melbourne and various branches.

The team at O’Connors CASE IH first laid eyes on the ProStar® model at an industry event last year and the decision to purchase one was soon a fait accompli, according to Shepparton Branch Manager, Brendan O’Connor.

“The ProStar® had exactly the right specifications we wanted, with plenty of power from the 550 horsepower Cummins engine and the ease of use of the Eaton Ultrashift Plus 18-speed automated manual transmission,” Brendan said.

“Add to this the nostalgia of having an INTERNATIONAL truck back on fleet and the decision to get one was pretty easy.”

O’Connors has six branches throughout central and western Victoria as well as over the border in South Australia and Southern New South Wales, and often equipment needs to be moved between these sites.

The ProStar® joins an IVECO Powerstar in this application, and is also used to deliver new equipment from the port of Melbourne to the branches.

Brendan said that the single trailer combination provided them with a payload of up to around 30 tonnes, which easily covered large individual machines and also allowed the Dealership to mix the load depending on requirements.

“The trailer has a widener so we can easily transport a large combine harvester, but we can just as easily take two or three tractors depending on requirements,” he said.

“With the prime mover itself, we’ve had great feedback from the drivers, they say that it’s very comfortable on long drives and has more than enough power and torque to get the job done easily.

“The ProStar’s based in Shepparton and sometimes when delivering to our other branches, the drivers need to sleep in the truck. The sleeping facilities are good and the cabin itself allows you stand at full height, making it much more convenient to walk around the cabin and to access the sleeper.”

Finished with a stunning red duco, colour-matched fuel tanks and polished alloy bull bar, the ProStar® is functional and also looks the part.

“We’ve had a lot of compliments about how good the truck looks,” Brendan said.

“It really helps present a very professional image for our Dealership.”
